Career Goals
ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Wright State University School of Medicine
I chose this position because it is the closest fit to the type of career I would like in the future. This university is looking for someone who can "provide innovative pharmacological teaching" of MD students while stressing involvement in collaborative curricular design. A position like this would allow me to truly merge my knowledge and skills as a doctor of pharmacy and instructional design. The one thing missing in this post that I would like for my future career is the opportunity to continue my research line and scholarly activities.
This post also made me appreciate how being a graduate of the LDT program would give me a unique advantage over other Pharm.D. candidates since one of the preferred qualifications is experience with innovative curricular and instructional designs.
DIRECTOR OF ASSESSMENT
University of Georgia College of Pharmacy
I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Fulford last fall and was struck by how passionate he was in his pursuit of researching innovative ways to provide authentic learning experiences to pharmacy students.
I'm especially interested in the amount of collaborative research opportunities and resources afforded by his position as the director of assessments at the college of pharmacy. The fact that he is able to work closely with clinical professors and faculty on a variety of topics such as interprofessional education, assessment of learning, student self-perceptions of knowledge and confidence, and evaluating the effect of various pedagogies in pharmacy education is truly wonderful and exciting to me.
TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
George Mason University
What I love about this position is that I would have the opportunity to try my hand at multiple areas like serving on departmental committees, mentoring graduate students, and teaching courses along with working on my own research.
I also like that this post specifically mentions a preference for applicants who demonstrated commitment to higher education scholarship and to collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches.
